The Washington State Charter Schools Association (WA Charters) is a statewide nonprofit organization that supports the start-up of high-quality public charter schools, with a focus on serving academically and economically disadvantaged communities.

WA Charters focuses on three key areas or support: community and family engagement, school leadership development, and services to help charter schools launch and operate.

Led by a diverse board, WA Charters provides accurate information on public charter schools to parents, educators, and community members through events, webinars, and other learning opportunities.

Diverse leadership. WA Charters is led by a board of directors with education, nonprofit, community, and business experience. Directors include: Kathy Binder, Chris Korsmo, Steve Mullin, Marta Reyes-Newberry, and Jim Spady. The Board is responsible for governance and fiduciary oversight.

Marta Reyes-Newberry serves as the Interim Executive Director for WA Charters.

The LEV Foundation serves as the fiscal agent until the organization’s 501(c)(3) status is secured.

Our funding. WA Charters is supported by local and national foundations, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Walton Foundation.
