About

WA Charters is a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates for new and better schools and fights to protect existing public charter schools. We also provide resources and support to public charter schools and help them develop local leaders, innovators and teachers.

We believe all students have the right to a high-quality public education, parents should have a choice of where their kids go to school, and accountability leads to excellence.

There are exciting things happening in education. After years of struggling with the status quo, students who have historically been underserved in school, particularly students of color and from low-income households, are gaining access to some of the most advanced schools in the country. They’re learning music and computer programming. They are in a position to fulfill their potential.

Not everyone shares our vision and there is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there. Our job is to educate the public, defend our public charter schools and grow the movement to bring high-quality education and parent choice to every underserved community in the state.

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, one of our country’s greatest advocates for education and civil rights.

We are proud to see his legacy alive in charter public school students and classrooms across the state.

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King Jr.
