Strong School Bulletin Opportunitites

Calling all teachers! WA Charters – Seattle University National Board Certification Cohort Support Opportunity!

Seattle U and WA Charters are partnering again to offer support to teachers that wish to learn more about and pursue National Board Certification Candidacy. This fall, charter public school teachers can audit a candidate support program to learn more about the process. Then after completing the audit, this winter, WA Charters will fund teachers to participate in the full cohort experience to pursue candidacy. Please attend an info session on a date listed below to learn more or reach out to rekha@wacharters.org.

Online National Board Candidate Support Program

The mission of the National Board is to advance student learning and achievement by establishing the definitive standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators, providing programs and advocating policies that support excellence in teaching and leading, and engaging National Board certified teachers and leaders in that process. Candidates will become familiar with the NB process and the requirements, make short and long term plans for the NB work, and learn to connect NB standards to teaching and learning contexts, standards and guidelines.

Help students succeed
Washington’s budget language for paying the NBCT bonus and the challenging schools bonus remains intact, providing there are no legislative changes.

Date & Location

Program Orientation: September 30, 2023
Regional Meetings: Negotiated in cohorts (usually evenings and/or weekends)
Certificate Alike Dates: December 9th, March 2nd (additional dates to be announced)
Format: Hybrid

Who Should Apply?To seek National Board Certification, you must meet the National Board requirements:

Hold a bachelor’s degree
Possess a valid state teaching/counseling license
Check with National Board FAQ www.nbpts.org
