Green Dot Public Schools is transforming education in Washington State with four schools serving students in Tacoma, Kent and Southeast Seattle:

  • Destiny Middle School in Tacoma’s Eastside neighborhood, opened as one of the first charter schools in Washington in August 2015 with a founding class of 6th graders and reached full build-out this year with grades 6-8.
  • Rainier Valley Leadership Academy Middle School serving the Southeast Seattle community opened its doors in the fall of 2017 with a founding class of 6th graders and will grow to serve grades 6-8 over the next two years.
  • Excel Public Charter School opened as a stand alone charter school in Kent, WA in 2015 and joined the Green Dot network in 2017. Excel currently serves students in grades 7-9 and will grow to include grades 7-12 over the next three years.
  • Rainier Valley Leadership Academy High School is preparing to launch with a founding class of 9th graders in the fall of 2018 and will serve the Southeast Seattle community in partnership with Rainier Valley Leadership Academy Middle School. RVLA High School will grow to serve students in grades 9-12 over the course of the next four years.

In order to support these efforts, Green Dot is building a Washington Home Office that will unparalleled coaching and support to its schools, develop relationships with community and family stakeholders, and grow strategic relationships with various statewide educational districts, agencies and nonprofit organizations. Green Dot Washington works in partnership with Green Dot’s national office in Los Angeles and Tennessee office in Memphis to provide supports to its schools.

The Operations Analyst  manages operations projects and provides critical support to the Washington Home Office and schools in key aspects of operations, human resources, and compliance.  The role involves both strategic planning, day-to-day operations, and other special projects as assigned.  The Operations Analyst will report to the Director of Finance & Operations and will work collaboratively with other members of the Washington operations team to build systems that improve operational efficiency.  The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker that can execute across a variety of tasks in analytical, strategic, and operational areas.  This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious self-starter to work directly with leadership of a high-impact and  growing non-profit organization. This is a 12-month, full-time role that is based out of the Green Dot Washington Home Office in SeaTac, WA.


  • Support schools in developing systems for key operational functions, including: School Nutrition Program, student enrollment, school safety, facilities, transportation, and compliance
  • Perform analysis and create reports to provide the home office and schools with key operational data (e.g., transportation and food program efficiency) to improve operations and reduce costs
  • Coordinate with Home Office and school staff to ensure that operational compliance requirements and timelines are met, including reports to state, federal, and local agencies
  • Oversee Green Dot Washington’s School Nutrition Program and support schools to ensure program compliance, including system management (MealPlus), audit preparation, meal eligibility document collection, and food safety
  • Provide oversight and support to schools in key student enrollment areas including system management (SchoolMint), document collection required for student enrollment, and maintenance of student records
  • Support Human Resources team with required document collection and tracking, including background checks, mandatory trainings, employment verification, etc
  • Assist schools with the coordination of periodic inspections and tests of facilities, infrastructure and systems to ensure compliance with all annual Fire/Life/Safety regulations
  • Coordinate annual review of school safety plans with schools and home office
  • Order and maintain supplies for Washington home office and manage contracts for leased equipment
  • Support home office with procurement by monitoring vendor invoices to ensure services are accurately billed and assisting with requests for proposals, bids and other contract documents as needed
  • Collaborate with Green Dot’s Director of Finance and Operations to lead training and professional development for school operations staff
  • Support special projects and initiatives as needed (e.g., project planning summer operations at new schools, improving attendance across schools, etc)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations 


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required)
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience preferably in a low-income school or non-profit setting (strongly preferred)
  • Strong belief in Green Dot’s mission to serve all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, income or learning ability, and a deep desire to recruit individuals who share that belief (required)
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently and be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment

  • Strong analytical and project management skills, with a deep attention to detail coupled with the ability to think critically, problem-solve complex questions, and identify solutions.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including a demonstrated ability to present effectively and persuasively to diverse groups
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; proven aptitude in learning new computer programs.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation as this role may require transportation to multiple school sites
