Teachers in Washington’s charter public schools are given more flexibility to customize their teaching methods and curriculum to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of their students. In exchange, they must show improvements in student learning. This means great schools for students, flexibility for teachers, and accountability for the public.

Washington’s charters are intentionally attracting a diverse teaching force. 32 percent of Washington’s charter public school teachers identify as teachers of color, as compared to just 11 percent across public schools statewide.
