About the True Measure Collaborative

About the True Measure Collaborative

The True Measure Collaborative (TMC) was formed in 2015 in response to emerging charter schools’ commitment to providing the highest quality educational experience for their students, including those with disabilities. The TMC was envisioned as a resource and partner to charter schools, offering centralized expertise and resources that build on and enhance the collective impact of our partner schools. Launched as a collaboration between the Washington State Charter Schools Association, Seneca Family of Agencies, and the Puget Sound Educational Service District, the True Measure Collaborative currently has 10 member schools:

  • Green Dot Excel Public Charter School
  • Green Dot Destiny Charter Middle School
  • Green Dot Rainier Valley Leadership Academy
  • PRIDE Prep
  • Rainier Prep
  • SOAR Academy
  • Spokane International Academy
  • Summit Public Schools: Atlas
  • Summit Public Schools: Sierra
  • Summit Public Schools: Olympus

Services provided by the True Measure Collaborative include:

  • Support in the design of data-informed student identification and intervention, including the design of rigorous child find activities and the selection of research-based support strategies that offer students effective services at the most opportune points of intervention
  • Induction and ongoing Professional Learning Community for schools’ special education leaders
  • Identification and engagement of community providers interested in collaborating with charter schools in their efforts to meet the comprehensive needs of all students
  • Partnership in monitoring and meeting state and federal reporting and documentation requirements
  • Centralized and in-service trainings and coaching

Commitments of True Measure Collaborative Members

Reflecting the shared commitment to excellence that led to the founding of the True Measure Collaborative, member schools have determined the following core actions that all Collaborative members have committed to implementing within their individualized service models:

  • Put students’ best interest first
  • Develop meaningful family partnerships
  • Practice values-based compliance
  • Close the opportunity gap experienced by students with disabilities
  • Institute inclusive practices that are owned school-wide

Together, Collaborative members will demonstrate that the true measure of success is achieved only when we support the success of ALL students. Want more information? Contact us at

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, one of our country’s greatest advocates for education and civil rights.

We are proud to see his legacy alive in charter public school students and classrooms across the state.

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Meet Kai. He’s getting a great education at a charter public school.

"I'm in 2nd grade at Spokane International Academy. I love my school because of my science club and all the fun things we learn and do there. At SIA we have Spanish starting in kindergarten. My teachers are very nice and help me learn."

With your support, we can help more schools like Kai's open, and more students like Kai get a world-class education. A gift of any size is meaningful and will make a difference for children in Washington state.

For thousands of children in Washington State, a high-quality education is out of reach. Washington is home to startling - and increasing - educational inequities for children from low-income communities, children with special needs, and children of color.

We can change this by providing our children with high-quality charter public school options that show what's possible when innovation meets accountability.

Challenge inequity and support innovation by giving to WA Charters this #GivingTuesday.
