About Rainier Valley Leadership Academy
Rainier Valley Leadership Academy (RVLA) is a public, tuition-free, charter school for grades 6-11 serving the Seattle community. RVLA provides a rigorous education delivered in an anti-racist collaborative community. The school develops leadership skills in students and provides opportunities to use those skills to build a stronger community.
Position Description
We are seeking a part-time Development Manager to help us build an effective development team, strategy, and execution capacity. The Development Manager will report to the Head of School. This person will work closely with the school leadership team and the Board of Directors to put in place a plan, systems and procedures that will enable RVLA to make up the gap between the needs of our students and inequitable funding provided to charter schools compared with district public schools in Washington.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist the school board and leadership team in developing the fundraising strategy and execution plan
- Maintain a CRM system for managing RVLA’s fund development workflow and tasks
- Identify potential funders
- Conduct research on potential donors, strategic partners, and foundations
- Build relationships with potential community-based funders
- Ensure that all fundraising tasks are being executed in a timely manner
- Coordinate donor thank yous, receipts, and other donor projects
- Assist with mailings and special projects as needed
Position Requirements
- Undergraduate degree
- Passion for non-profit management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective project management skills

- September 2020 – June 2021
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Can work remote
- Stipend position
