Meet Pinnacles Prep: Wenatchee’s New Public Charter School

Aug 17, 2021 | Launching Schools, School Highlights, Updates

Designed with and for the community, Pinnacles Prep is devoted to serving middle and high school scholars in the Wenatchee Valley with collaborative and place-based learning opportunities. Pinnacles Prep aims to develop the leaders driving Wenatchee Valley’s future by equipping scholars with the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and connections needed to be college, career, and community ready.

Blending a focus in humanities with STEM, Pinnacles Prep offers scholars a chance to apply these critical 21st century academic principles in real-world settings. Scholars can expect high academic standards while receiving a spectrum of social-emotional supports through Pinnacles Prep’s whole-child practice.

With the belief that the community is a classroom, Pinnacles Prep will provide opportunities for scholars to engage in hands-on projects with community partners. It will also serve as a hub of connection for families and community members to support scholars and celebrate the cultures and traditions that make Wenatchee unique.

After extensive county-wide surveys, local community design sessions and one-on-one conversations with Wenatchee parents, Pinnacles Prep emerged out of a community desire to reimagine what school could be. Jill Fineis, formerly the Science Coordinator for Wenatchee School District, helms Pinnacles Prep as the school’s CEO and Principal. She is guided with the firm belief that all children can learn at high levels when their needs are comprehensively addressed.

“We could not be more excited to be opening our doors to students and families,” said Fineis. “Our school reflects the strengths and needs of our community, and we are excited to begin making history as our region’s first charter public school.”

Pinnacles Prep kicks-off the school year on August 24th. It is currently enrolling rising 7th graders for the 2021 – 2022 school year. There is currently a waitlist for rising 6th graders. At full capacity, the school will serve grades 6 through 12.

The school is hosting a ribbon cutting on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. All media and community are invited to attend the outdoor event, and tours will be available on request.
