Congratulations to charter public school alum Betzy, who in October 2025 received the Outstanding Alumni Advocacy Award from WA Charters. These annual awards offer an opportunity to shine a light on the incredible parents, students, alumni, and leaders in our community who play an instrumental role in advocating for equitable public education.

Betzy Espinoza became a charter public school advocate as a middle school student at Pinnacles Prep in Wenatchee, the first charter public school in Central Washington. From the start, Betzy used her energy and creativity to support not only her school, but charter public schools statewide. She’s testified before legislators in Olympia, written editorials for The Wenatchee World, led school tours for families, helped fundraise, and inspired her community to join the movement for educational equity.

Betzy’s advocacy comes from the heart. She speaks up not just for herself, but for every student seeking a school where they can thrive. As a founding student at Pinnacles Prep, she discovered her own potential and now works to help others discover theirs.

Beyond advocacy, Betzy is a passionate future leader who dreams of making an impact in both social activism and architecture. In her free time, she loves to run, read, and write poetry, reminding us that leadership and creativity often go hand in hand.

We are proud to recognize Betzy as a powerful young voice shaping the future of Washington’s public education.
