My name is Joshua. I am now an intern in the WSCAG class of 2025-2026. I am also a student at the Rooted School Vancouver in Washington. I am very grateful to have worked in the charter public school environment. My school has helped me in many ways and provided me with numerous opportunities I did not expect. I have gained experience following my passion for communications and policy through my school. Talking to people and passing crucial information have always been among the things I have enjoyed the most. In the charter school environment, I have been able to participate in the Academic Committee.
I applied to the intern program of the Washington Charter Schools Advisory Group because I am interested in understanding the connection between policy and communications in assisting schools. I am eager to enjoy the advantages the program will offer me, and one of them is understanding how to convey the subject of education and how to make others realize the necessity of charter schools.

The most exciting part of WSCAG I am looking into is the possibility of applying what I learn in the program to real-life projects involving people like me. The thing I would like to achieve is the ability to narrate the stories of students at charter schools and demonstrate to the public what makes them so special. The thing I am looking forward to at WSCAG is learning under the guidance of the individuals who will be guiding other interns and me, people who are as passionate about education as we are. The long-term goal I would like to achieve is the ability to use all that I learn during the program and keep using it in the field of communications, and to become someone who can unite schools and communities, making everyone aware of the opportunities students and families have. Charter schools have given me the opportunity to transform my life, and I would like to provide others with the same opportunity.
