Praise for call to rethink system; opportunity for collaboration
Seattle, WA — The Washington State Charter Schools Association’s (WA Charters) CEO Patrick D’Amelio released the following statement in response to State Superintendent Chris Reykdahl’s long-term vision for Washington’s education system, which was unveiled today:
“As advocates for a strong public education system that works for all students, we commend Superintendent Reykdahl for recognizing that a one size fits all education system no longer works for our state. We agree that Washington must act now to meet the demands of our global economy through introducing reforms and innovations – and we look forward to working with the Superintendent and his office on this shared goal. We are also pleased to hear his focus on a solution that calls for an updated funding model that provides additional support to students with special needs including those from communities experiencing high poverty.”
