Beyond Land Acknowledgments: Supportive Action for Indigenous Youth

May 8, 2023 | WA Charters

Saturday, May 6, 2023 was WA Charters Sixth Annual Conference! Click below to listen to our event’s land acknowledgement video shared by Representative Debra Lekanoff. We are honored to learn from Rep. Lekanoff AND we must go beyond learning and acknowledgements. We encourage you to take an action to support a youth-focused Indigenous organization in our state.

Rep. Lekanoff represents the State’s 40th House district, which includes San Juan County, and parts of Skagit and Whatcom Counties. She is the second female tribal member to serve in the Washington House of Representatives, modeling a path for indigenous leadership in our state for future generations.

Youth-focused Native Organizations to Support:

Support and give to these Native-led organizations, who support Native youth throughout Washington State and have been critical partners in our collective work. This is one small way to recognize and show gratitude for the Indigenous people and Nations who have stewarded the land from time immemorial and continue to be leaders in our communities today.
