We stand with the families, students, teachers and administrators of Garfield and Seattle Public Schools in expressing our deep sadness by the act of gun violence that claimed the life of a Garfield student yesterday. That even one more death occurs after the loss of so many other brothers, sisters, cousins, friends and teammates is heartbreaking. While the physical and emotional well-being of anyone in school is a priority for all, the opportunity for each of us individually is in identifying and supporting even one way to quiet the relentless drumbeat of gun violence.
