Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine as they fight against Vladimir Putin’s deplorable invasion of their homeland. To the Ukrainian families in and beyond our charter public school sector: our hearts and minds are with you as you move through each day in fear for the lives of family members and friends in Ukraine. To all Ukrainians at home and abroad: we stand with you.
As this senseless invasion unfolds, we are inspired by students in our state’s charter public school sector – including at Spokane International Academy – who are grappling with the Ukraine crisis in real time, acting with compassion to support those in danger, and standing in solidarity against this unjust invasion abroad. Such deep compassion gives us hope for future generations, as we continue to support those who are courageously living through this trauma. We must continue to speak against cruelty and to act with compassion as we hold hope for safety and liberation of the Ukrainian people.
